9 Killed After Protesters Storm US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan

On Sunday morning in Karachi, Pakistan, hundreds of pro-Iranian protesters gathered outside the US Consulate. Angry over the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in alleged US-Israeli attacks, they marched forward waving Iranian flags and portraits, chanting in fury.

The crowd rushed ahead, trying to break into the US Consulate compound. Protesters pushed past early police barriers and grabbed the reinforced gates. Some climbed the structure while others threw objects inside — directly attacking the diplomatic site.

Pakistani police responded as protesters tried to breach the compound. Officers fired tear gas and warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd. Many retreated coughing and blinded, but a defiant group stayed near the perimeter.

Police opened live fire on protesters still trying to enter the US Consulate. At least 9 people were killed. Faisal Edhi of the Edhi Foundation confirmed the deaths and said several injured were critical, warning the toll could rise.

After the shooting, Edhi Foundation ambulances rushed in to help the injured. Faisal Edhi confirmed 9 deaths and said the number might increase. Chief Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed Tariq also verified the casualties as rescue teams worked urgently.

Sindh Police pushed protesters away and sealed the area with heavy checkpoints. A police spokesperson confirmed the perimeter was secure. Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar declared no one would be allowed to take the law into their hands.
