Rex Heuermann, a 62-year-old architectural consultant from Manhattan, was arrested in July 2023 as the suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer — a case that had haunted Long Island for over a decade.

His ex-wife, Asa Ellerup, appeared in Peacock’s documentary “House of Secrets,” recounting the moment Heuermann, looking very nervous, sat down to confess the murders directly to her face.

Face to face, Ellerup asked him directly: “How many women did you kill?” Heuermann answered — “Eight.” He also admitted she was not home during all of them, as she was away with their children.

Then came the most chilling detail — 7 of the 8 women were killed in a room downstairs in their own Massapequa Park home, just a half-hour drive from Gilgo Beach.

Days after his July 2023 arrest, Ellerup filed for divorce. Months later, Peacock struck a deal to pay his family for a documentary — a move that outraged many of the victims’ families.
